Weekend Light Reading: March 21

Yep, winter’s still here, although I think the snow has finally stopped and we may get some warmer weather. Maybe. It’s supposed to get up to the mid-50s tomorrow, which is life-changing. Since I’m trying to save my skrilla for a very busy/expensive April, I’m keeping it local this weekend and doing a little New York exploring. Maybe I’ll head up to the Cloisters (picture). Maybe I’ll throw in a weird workout class. Maybe I’ll attend the ASPCA event at House of Vans and creep on some cats, or at least buy some cat shoes (because….cat shoes). Who knows. Who knows if I’ll have enough time. Hope you all in California are enjoying the nice weather, you a-holes. In case your day drinking on beautiful patios has you feeling a bit hungover this weekend (again, I hate you), here’s a few things you can squint at.

I went to the Oscars and no one cared.

Get your sleeveface on.

Alas, I’m too young to have seriously dabbled in mixtapes, but I did make my share of mix CDs (and still do for Allie!). This would be a neato way to send them.

It’s been 10 years since my favorite movie came out, and I’m pretty sure seeing it as a teen speaks to a lot of my romantic failings.

It’s weird if I buy this pillow, right? Even if all of my friends know I’m just a cat-less cat lady deep down?

i had to explain who Neil deGrasse Tyson was to Allie (so busted!) and now the karma loop has come full-circle as he blows my mind with his tweets.

If you struggle to answer “what do you do?” like I do, Maggie has some tips.

hey guys, your airports are probably named after real people (obvi with JFK, less obvi with LaGuardia).

And to all my frozen popsicles for New York friends, here are some places I wrote about here and there that may be worth checking out:

Sardi’s: Basically the one place you need to go after catching a Broadway show.
: Flights of bacon and bourbon and beer.
Macaron Parlour: macarons flavored like cheetos, s’mores, and giggity (no joke).
Royal Palms: serious shuffleboard and tropical drinks in Brooklyn.
